![]() ![]() In England, astrology reached its high point during the reign (1558-1603) of Queen Elizabeth I. ![]() During this period in history, however, astrology was still the province of the rich and powerful. It wasn't until the European Renaissance of the fourteenth to the seventeenth centuries, when high learning and occult sciences were at their zeniths, that astrology came into its own in the West.Īlthough it didn't coexist well with Catholicism, it was well received in Protestant countries. During the Crusades of the Middle Ages, the returning knights brought back many Eastern influences, including the study of astrology. Although it is generally accepted that the Venerable Bede - that great English historian of the Dark Ages - studied astrology as a mystical discipline, it was not a popular art/science in Europe at that time. ![]() ![]() Astrologers retain this definition of the 7 Classical Planets today. The ancient Babylonians, Greeks, Persians, Romans, Medieval Christians, and others thought of the 7 Classical Planets as gods and named their 7 days of the week after them. Although the Greek term planet applied mostly to the five 'wandering stars', the Ancients included the Sun and Moon as the Sacred 7 Luminaires/7 Heavens (sometimes referred to as "Lights", ) making a total of 7 planets. To the Ancient Greeks who learned from the Babylonians - the earliest astronomers/astrologers - this group consisted of the five planets visible to the naked eye and excluded Earth, plus the Sun and Moon. Before the age of telescopes, the night sky was thought to consist of two similar components: fixed stars, which remained motionless in relation to each other, and moving objects/" wandering stars" ( Ancient Greek: ἀστέρες πλανῆται, romanized: asteres planetai), which moved relative to the fixed stars over the course of the year(s). ![]() In astrology, planets have a meaning different from the astronomical understanding of what a planet is. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is Kendradhipati Dosha, which gets cancelled only when the aforesaid planet occupies its own sign. 10th, 7th and 4th lords (in that order), when they are not natural benefics. The lord of Lagna does not get affected by this dosha.īenefics for a lagna can be determined as: Raman also talks about Kendradhipati Dosha, the blemish acquired by a natural benefic by virtue of lordship of an angle 4th, 7th or 10th house. It is a season that invites us to move beyond what we know, so that we may be reminded over and over again that there is always more awaiting us-different ways of being in the world, experiences, cultures, people, ideas, philosophies, adventures, truths, and so much more. Sagittarius season, however, is all about instinct and action, excitement and passion. We are shifting out of the waters of Scorpio, where the deep currents of emotion were calling our names. Beginning on November 22, 2023, and continuing until December 21, 2023, Sagittarius season is an adventure-filled invitation to broaden our beliefs, perspectives, experiences, and opportunities. As the Sun shifts through the sign’s realm, it comes to the surface within us all. Sagittarius, as an archetype, exists within each of us, too. The fire sign of Sagittarius influences us all to become more enthusiastic, more curious, and more fully present in each moment. These archetypes come to life each time they are expressed through our unique experiences, intentions, and consciousness. In Jungian psychology, an archetype is a universal idea, symbol, image, pattern, or thought that is present in the collective unconscious of all human beings. This week, the Sun and Mars enter the fiery sign of Sagittarius, giving us three planetary bodies in the sign ruled by our most expansive planet, Jupiter. Heading out the door? When you’re able to read people, it means you can tell what a person is thinking or feeling without them having to say a word. This skill is all about deciphering what’s going on beneath the surface of an interaction - and it certainly comes in handy. If you feel like your first impression of someone is always right, then you might be one of the zodiac signs who’s really good at reading people. ![]() ![]() ![]() In Greek Mythology, the symbol of the ram is based on the Chrysomallus, the flying ram that rescued Phrixus and Helle, the children of the Boeotian king Athamas and provided the Golden Fleece. ![]() ![]() The equivalent in the Hindu solar calendar is Meṣa. The leap day February 29 causes that year's March equinox to fall about eighteen hours earlier compared with the previous year.Īries is one of the six positive signs of the zodiac and its one of the four modality cardinal of the zodiac. Because the Earth takes approximately 365.24 days to go around the Sun, the precise time of the equinox is not the same each year, and generally will occur about six hours later from one year to the next until reset by a leap year. Īccording to the tropical system of astrology, the Sun enters the sign of Aries when it reaches the March equinox, typically on March 21. This time-duration is exactly the first month of the Solar Hijri calendar (Arabic Hamal/Persian Farvardin/Pashto Wray). Under the tropical zodiac, the Sun transits this sign from approximately March 21 to April 19 each year. Aries ( ♈︎) ( Greek: Κριός, romanized: Kriós, Latin: Ariēs, "ram") is the first astrological sign in the zodiac, spanning the first 30 degrees of celestial longitude (0°≤ λ <30°), and originates from the Aries constellation. ![]() ![]() ![]()
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The cause of the shifting in zodiac signs is precession, the slight 'wobble' Earth experiences as it orbits the sun. The problem was, that these ancient astrologers weren't aware of a ' wobble' in Earth's motion that would seriously disrupt their system as time progressed. The other astrological signs of the zodiac were categorized in a similar way, each grabbing its own 30-degree slice of the ecliptic. This intersection is also known as the vernal equinox and the spring equinox in the Northern Hemisphere because it is considered the first day of spring.Ģ,200 years ago this zero point occurred in Aries, hence its name the "first point of Aries." As a result, Aries the constellation occupied the first 30 degrees of the ecliptic from 30 to 60 degrees was taken by Taurus, and Gemini was positioned from 60 to 90 degrees. The zodiac was initially developed around 600 BCE and its zero point was defined as the point that the ecliptic intersected with the celestial equator - the great circle of the terrestrial equator on the celestial sphere.
